Our Story…
In August and October, we did two poster/sticker drives here in downtown Manhattan. We spent two Saturdays walking around and doing drop in placements, which means we went into anywhere that would let us, introduced ourselves and our purpose and attained permission to put up either an 11″x 17″ poster and/or a small business card size sticker. We hit up… shelters, methadone clinics, privately owned pharmacies, college health centers, bookstores, coffee shops, community centers, libraries… just about everything in our path was a door we knocked on. We placed posters and stickers in about 35 locations. Unfortunately, though our fellowship is large here in NYC our volunteer pool of addicts is not… but what we accomplished with just a handful of members was outstanding! Everyone who participated was surprised at how fun it was and how needed. One of my favorite moments was walking into a bookstore on the New York University campus and thinking to myself ‘really jess? is a bookstore the best place for these?? ‘ and as soon as we did the intro the manager said “Wow, I wish you were here last week when i had two people in here nodding out!” . The diversity of our fellowship stems from the diversity of addicts coming through the doors, even the ones who are NYU students selling their school books for one more 🙂

Come be a part of it! What? Not a good date for you? Well… send a sponsee or friend our way, that as well would be a great service! 🙂
