Thank you to our dedicated Events & Activities and Hospitals & Institution subcommittees for putting on the June events posted below! Here are a few other happenings to be aware of.
ROTATION OF SERVICE
May marks the term ending – and beginning! – of many key Area Service Committee positions. I want to thank the following people for their dedicated and invaluable service:
- John B. – Outgoing NYC Area Secretary
- Jessica N. – Outgoing Public Information Subcommittee Chair
- Ben G. – Outgoing Hospitals and Institutions Subcommittee Chair
- Shaunda S. – Outgoing Literature Subcommittee Chair
Also, welcome back to Roland H. as our Incoming H&I Chair.
Rotation in service is essential to the health of our fellowship – but only when members rotate IN as well as out!
For the time being, literature is not available for purchase through the Area Service Committee. Instead, literature can be purchased directly at the Regional Service Office (where Area Service meets, conveniently enough!) Please do not use the New York City Area literature order form – the Regional office has a slightly different form that will be posted under the “Forms and Documents” tab as soon as the most current revision is complete.
The Regional Service Office is open Tuesday though Sunday at 154 Christopher St, Suite 1A, in Manhattan. Call 212-929-7117 for office hours and other information.
SERVICE SYSTEM FIELD TEST COMPLETION
After field-testing the “Group Service Unit” portion of the Service System Proposal for 6 months, the GSRs of this area voted to return to our traditional ASC meeting format at the traditional time.
- 3rd Sunday of every month (i.e. June 16th)
- Steering Committee at 12:30pm (all NA members welcome)
- General Assembly for all GSRs at 2pm (all NA members welcome)
This area will be submitting feedback to Narcotics Anonymous World Services (NAWS) after our July meeting – all input is welcome! If you would like to provide your personal feedback directly to the Service System Project, you can email the workgroup at: email@example.com .
Thanks to all who participated! No matter how our fellowship votes on the final draft of the Service System Proposal next year, our area will surely benefit from the experience.
In Loving Service,
– Mari F.
